Mental Health, Illustrated

Turning complex ideas into visual tools for reflection, learning, and care.

Why Illustration?

Why Illustration?

Illustration is a powerful medium for engaging learners in thoughtful, accessible ways. It helps simplify complex topics through visual metaphor and allows ideas to be revisited over time — in print or digital form. The goal is to translate academic material and personal storytelling into visual tools that are both educational and emotionally resonant.

Mindful Collaboration

We believe that how a project is created is just as important as the final product. Whether collaborating with clinicians, patients, or instructional designers, we ensure complex mental health topics are represented thoughtfully and that final tools integrate seamlessly into your learning ecosystem.

Systems Thinking

Systems Thinking

We combine creative storytelling with implementation science to design tools that support behavior change and systems of care. Our work is created to live beyond a single viewing — embedded into trainings, supervision, Learning Management Systems, and ongoing professional development pathways.

Case Study

Goal:

The goal of this illustrated toolkit was to create a 2-part tool for mobile crisis responders – one is a scenario-based illustration, and the other is more didactic practical tips based off a webinar series for the Medi-Cal Mobile Crisis Training and Technical Assistance Center.

A Visual Tool for Mobile Crisis Teams

A scenario-based, illustrative resource that brings mobile crisis response to life through a real-time story, emphasizing trust-building, cultural responsiveness, and person-centered care.

Strategies for Supporting Individuals Experiencing Psychosis:

A practical, action-oriented handout informed by four lived-experience webinars featuring individuals, family members, and peer providers. The resource offers actionable insights to enhance team training and day-to-day practice.

Behind-the-Scenes:

Here’s an example of a scene from start to finish – from rough mockup to color palette and final illustration.

Amanda “Kay” (Lipp Studios) helped us to think through the product that we wanted to develop allowing us space for creativity while also guiding us with her expertise. The process was open, inclusive, and collaborative throughout and we are delighted with the finished product and looking forward to future projects with Amanda!
